Tring Park School for the Performing Arts provides an environment which allows for a fusion of natural talent and creativity combined with fine teaching and direction.
What we offer here is unique. Talented children and young people benefit from an excellent standard of teaching in the Performing Arts, and this is reinforced by a very high level of academic education. This results in rounded individuals who are fully prepared for life; not just trained performers, but 'thinking' performers. It is this depth and breadth of education that will give them the best possible chances in their future careers.
We know that every single one of our pupils is different, each with their own blend of ability and ambition. We endeavour to provide a training and education which meets the needs of each pupil and allows them to achieve their full potential.
The School is a very exciting place to be. Visitors regularly comment on the buzz and energy that is about the place and no one ever complains about being bored. A cursory glance at the timetable will show how much we do during the week, vocationally and academically, both inside and outside school. All this performing, training and learning requires a great deal of dedication and commitment from both staff and pupils and this creates a stimulating environment within a supportive community.
There were too many successes and achievements over the past academic year to recount here. For the first time the Musical Theatre students performed at the Shaw Theatre, London, in a memorable production of Crazy For You. Our dancers had many outside engagements, providing the majority of dancers for the 20th anniversary gala season of the National Youth Ballet. They also danced in performances with American Ballet Theatre, English National Ballet, Northern Ballet Theatre and the St Petersburg Ballet theatre. The highlight perhaps was a stunning run of performances of Graduation Ball with girls from the Swedish Ballet School in the Gothenburg Opera House. Our drama students achieved a first with their impressive tour of Venice and the Veneto at the end of November and our singers, from across the vocational courses, joined with Canterbury Choral Society under Richard Cooke, for an unforgettable performance of Verdi’s Requiem in Canterbury Cathedral.
There were two highly significant events in the history of the School. 2009 marks the 90th anniversary of the founding of the original school in London. This year also marks the occasion of the re-naming of the school. The Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, the Countess of Verulam, presided over the official re-naming ceremony at the end of January. Another very significant event for the future of the School is that we were granted planning permission in August for our three-phase building project.
There is so much that is exciting and positive to look forward to over the coming year and I encourage you to look at our 'News' section for updates on everything that is going on. Better still, come and visit us and see and experience the School for yourself. I look forward to welcoming you.
With very best wishes,
Stefan Anderson
