Range and Standard of Courses

In the Junior School, three and a half hours vocational training takes place in the morning, with academic teaching taking place in the afternoon. In the Middle and Senior Schools, the process is reversed with academic teaching undertaken in the morning and four and a half hours vocational training undertaken in the afternoon.

In the Junior School, two vocational courses are offered, Dance and Theatre Arts (which includes Drama, Singing and Dance). Every junior pupil also sings in a choir. The academic element follows the requirements of the National Curriculum with a full range of subjects.

In the Middle and Senior School there are the following vocational courses;

- Dance Course - Fourth Form to Third Year Sixth Form (Years 10-13).
- Performance Foundation Course - Fourth and Fifth Forms only (Years 10-11).
- Musical Theatre Course - Sixth Form only (Years 12-13).
- Drama Course - Sixth Form only (Years 12-13).

On the academic side in the Fourth and Fifth Forms, compulsory GCSE subjects are English, Mathematics, Science, Modern Foreign Language (French or German). Pupils also choose two or three additional subjects.

In the Sixth Form, depending on academic ability, pupils will normally choose three or four AS levels to study in the Lower Sixth and will usually take two A2 subjects in the Upper Sixth.

The BTEC in the Performing Arts is also offered in the Sixth Form, either in the form of the National Diploma (equivalent to three 'A' levels) or the National Certificate (equivalent to two 'A' levels). The BTEC may be combined with 'A' level studies.
