Senior Dance Course

The 6th Form Senior Dance Course is a three year programme of study, built around the Trinity National Diploma in Professional Dance. The course culminates in a year of pre-professional experience, delivered through the schools own touring company, The Dancers’ Company. It is also possible to combine vocational study on the Dance Course with a wide range of A-Levels, detailed in the academic pages of this website.

The Course

The 6th form Senior Dance Course continues to deliver the core subjects of Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance and Jazz form the framework around which the supporting subjects including Pointe-work, Virtuosity, Solos, Repertoire, Drama, Pilates and Singing are structured. Pas de Deux and Jazz double work are also available to invited students. It is also possible to pursue syllabus examinations in Ballet (RAD & Cecchetti), Modern (ISTD) and Tap (ISTD).

Performances

There are a number of exciting performing opportunities structured into the Senior Dance Course and in addition to the annual showcase, held in a professional theatre, there are many in-house performance opportunities along with chances to both dance and present work in the student choreography show.

Assessment

As well as being formally assessed twice a year in the three core subjects of Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz students are externally assessed in performance by a Trinity assessor. After the assessment each dancer is given one-to-one personal feedback from their teacher and guided in identifying strengths, areas for improvement and goals.

The Industry

We are always actively developing and maintaining our contacts with professional dance companies and as well as working tirelessly to secure employment for our graduating students we also have a number of apprenticeship schemes in place with companies such as English National Ballet, Ballet Theatre UK and AD Dance Company.
