Lily James stars in new film

Lily James in Fast Girls.jpg Former student Lily James (pictured on the right), who received rave reviews for her performance as Desdemona in the Sheffield Crucible production of Othello stars in Fast Girls.  Fast Girls is a film about athletics and launches just before the Olympics in June.  Directed by Regan Hall it also stars Rupert Graves in a story of a street-smart runner who develops an intense rivalry with an equally ambitious wealthy young athlete.

Launch of Dance Again charity

Encore!.JPGThe charitable foundation "Dance Again" launches on Friday 11 May in Bath.  "Dance Again" has been founded by the Widdowson family following the successful rehabilitation of former Tring Park dancer Jack Widdowson.  On Friday 1 June the Tring Park Dancers' Company presents Encore! in aid of the charity.  The performances at 11.00am and 5.00pm feature choreography by Jack Widdowson and a performance of Robert Cohan's Stabat Mater.  Tickets are available online from the Tring Park box office.

The Lost Boys at Charing Cross Theatre

GVP-2020120127-200874 small version.JPGFollowing the success of this year's Sixth Form Musical Theatre Course production of 'Once Upon a Time at the Adelphi' written by Phil Willmott, with music by Elliot Davis, both in our own studio theatre and the Shaw Theatre, London, six of our Musical Theatre students are currently rehearsing for the workshop performance of a new musical 'The Lost Boys: Neverland Grows Up' alongside a cast of professional actors.  The piece (with music by Phil Willmott and Mark Collins and lyrics by Phil Willmott) will be performed at the Charing Cross Theatre in London on Friday 27 April.

Wigmore Hall recital for former Tring Park student

JenniferFrance.jpgFormer Tring Park student Jennifer France has won the highly prestigious Patrons Award at the Royal Academy of Music of which the prize is a coveted recital at London's Wigmore Hall on 28 May at 7.30.  Jennifer has won the Isabel Jay Opera Prize, the Michael Head prize, is a member of the Song Circle and is a soloist for the Bach Cantata series. Jennifer is also a recent Samling Scholar and is the recipient of a major award from the Countess of Munster Trust.

Jennifer has performed at Buxton Opera Festival and the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival for the last two years where roles include Geraldine (A Hand of Bridge), Philline (Cover Mignon) and Kate (The Yeomen of the Guard).

Choreography Show

6th Form Choreography Show 2012Come to the Markova Theatre on Thursday 29 March at 7.30 to see a show choreographed and danced exclusively by Tring Park's 6th Form dancers.  Tickets are free and may be booked by telephone: 01442 821516.

McFly Support act

Lydia McAllister.jpgUpper 6th student Lydia McAllister has won the opportunity to support the band McFly on one their 26-night tour gigs at the Margate Winter Gardens on 13 March.  Following a 'Battle of the Bands' Lydia and her songwriting partner Becky East's band Wayward Daughter  were selected from hundreds of hopefuls who posted their music onto FaceBook.  McFly heard the top 50 and selected 26 groups to join them on their forthcoming tour.  They were the only female band in the top 10 and came top in their region.  See more of Wayward Daughter on www.facebook.com/WaywardDaughterMusic.

CBBC Success

Aimee_Kelly.jpgAimee Kelly and Louisa Connolly-Burnham are both starring in a new teen werewolf drama Wolfblood on CBBC.  Aimee recently made her big-screen debut in Sket which has just been released on DVD.

The Paul Watson Bursary

Paul Watson - Drummer-BoyDon't miss the chance to audition for the Paul Watson Bursary - held in memory of a great dance teacher who worked at Tring Park.  The successful boys have the opportunity to select any of our part-time courses including our Easter Course and Days of Dance.  The auditions form part of our Boys Day of Dance on Friday 11 May, applications for which are available on the Days of Dance page.
