Michael Geddes (Chair) Mike graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1965 and started his career at Cranfield Institute of Technology. He moved to become Director of Administration at Ashridge Management College combining his administrative role with teaching project leadership. He was appointed Chief Executive of the Recruitment and Assessment Services Agency, and a Civil Service Commissioner in the Cabinet Office in 1989 responsible for the modernisation of the Civil Service recruitment procedures. He stepped down as a Commissioner in 1997 and finished his career as a management consultant, retiring in 2004. Mike is the author of two books and various articles on leadership, project management, and aspects of public administration He has been a Governor since 2006 and Chairman since 2009.
Carol Atkinson Carol graduated in chemistry from St Hugh's College Oxford, and worked in electronics R&D for 10 years before joining the Building Research Establishment in 1990. She worked on all aspects of sustainability until following the privatisation of BRE in 1997 she set up BRE Certification in 1998 to provide independent testing, training, certification and inspection. Over the next 14 years, through strategy, innovation and acquisition she grew the business to a profitable £24m turnover. In 2012, decided to leave and is currently working at Cranfield University where she also does some teaching in research and sustainability. Carol has over 18 years’ experience at Director level. She joined the Board in 2012, and serves on the Development and Marketing Committee.
Mary Bonar Mary studied law at UCL and qualified as a solicitor in 1971, becoming a partner in 1973. Having initially practiced in a broad field of law she set up the commercial department. She moved to a City Law Firm in 1989 and into asset and project finance, and banking. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and a commissioner of the Independent Transport Commission. She is now a director in the rail consultancy “First Class Partnerships”. Besides being a Governor at Tring she has been a Trustee of the benevolent Trust of her Livery Company, a Trustee of the Independent Transport Commission, and of Arts 4 Dementia. She serves on the Appeal Committee.
John Clark John studied Modern Languages at Exeter College, Oxford, following which he trained as a teacher. He taught at St Paul's School in London and Whitgift School, Croydon, where he was Head of Department. In 1996 he was appointed Deputy Head at Birkenhead School, and became Head in 2003, remaining in post until 2014. Under his leadership Birkenhead became one of the premier HMC schools in the North-West. John has a strong interest in the performing arts. He now runs his own charity, "So the Child may learn", which works with remote hill schools in Nepal. He is also a Governor at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Blackburn. He joined the Governing body in 2016 and serves on the Education Committee.
Alice Cave Alice is a solicitor at Farrer & Co, where she advises a wide range of clients (including many independent schools) on employment matters. She also has specialist expertise in advising schools and higher education institutions on issues which arise in connection with pupils, students and parents. Alice regularly speaks at schools conferences and delivers training to staff and governors on a variety of topics, including safeguarding and equality issues. She joined the Governing body in December 2012 and she is the Governor with responsibility for overseeing safeguarding at the school.
Michael Harper Michael graduated in Mechanical Engineering and Management Studies from London University. His early career was with Vickers plc, but joined Kidde Graviner in 1984 and eventually became responsible for the Kidde division of Williams Holdings, which supplied a range of fire safety equipment. Michael was Chief Executive of Kidde plc from 2000 until retirement in 2005, and has since Chaired BBA Aviation (2007 – 2014), Ricardo (2003 - 2014), The Vitec Group (2004 – 2012) and served on the Boards of Catlin (2005 – 2010) and QinetiQ (2011 – present). He has served on the Board of the Aerospace Technology Institute since 2013. He is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Firefighters, and of the City of London. He became a Liveryman of the Company in 2004 and Master in 2012/13. He chairs the School Appeals Committee.
Mark Hewitt For the last 20 years, Mark has led and transformed businesses, as CEO, which have emerging digital technology at the core. Initially in the entertainment and media sector with the Virgin Group, Mark’s recent experience has been at the forefront and development of online customer fulfilment and returns for some of the UK’s leading digital retailers. He has served as a Governor since March 2005 and Chairs the Finance & General Purposes sub-committee. He is also Chairman of Chrysalis London, a contemporary dance company; Church Warden at St George’s Hanover Square in London; and a Liveryman with the Worshipful Company of Inn holders, where he serves on the Patronage Committee. He is Vice Chairman at Tring Park.
Jan Kitteridge Trained at the Rambert School of Ballet, Jan danced professionally, before taking the Professional Dancers’ Teacher course at the Royal Academy of Dancing. In a distinguished teaching career Jan taught classical ballet at the Rambert School of Ballet, AES Tring Park and Elmhurst Ballet School, where she was Deputy Head of Dance for eight years. From 1990-2000 she was Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer of Adonais Ballet Company, one of the country’s most successful middle scale touring companies. Jan has also worked with many professional theatre and opera companies as choreographer/movement coach. She became a Governor at Tring Park in 2013, and serves on the Education and Development and Marketing Committees
Juliet Murray Juliet has worked in the voluntary sector for many years and was Manager of the Milton Keynes Citizens Advice Bureau retiring in 2000. She was a Governor of Milton Keynes College 2000 – 2009 and a former Trustee of Milton Keynes Community Foundation. She has served as a Governor since 1990, and was Chair from 1999 to 2009 during which period the School separated from the Arts Educational School at Chiswick.
Angela Odell Angela has worked for many years in the independent healthcare sector in various operational and managerial roles and is currently the Head of Clinical Governance at Bupa. She is a graduate of the University of Birmingham. Angela and family have lived locally in Berkhamsted for 30 years and was previously chair of the parent teachers association of a local independent prep school. She has a long association with Tring Park School being the parent of a former pupil and a Governor for nine years. She has always had a great interest in the performing arts, particularly dance and musical theatre. She became a Governor in January 2007 and she chairs the Development and Marketing.
Eric Pillinger Eric graduated in Economics from Exeter University. He qualified in accountancy and became a director of TACK International Ltd. He has dealt with all HR matters and has a good understanding of employment legislation. His many years as company director have given him a full appreciation of board operation and corporate governance and he is experienced in charity governance and finance from 10 years as a trustee of two local charities. He understands corporate finance, venture capital and company law and has experience of selling and marketing. He has managed company finances for 10 years and has strong financial awareness. Eric has been a Governor since 2012 and serves on the Finance and General Purposes Committee and the Appeals Committee.
June Taylor June is a retired Headmistress of Sherborne Girls School 1985-1999, and originally a teacher of Maths. She is an experienced educationalist and her resume includes: Treasurer of GSA for 6 years, Chair of Independent Schools Inspectorate 2004-2012, and Deputy Chairman AGBIS 2005-2013. (she represented AGBIS on BSA Executive 2004-2013). Besides being a Governor at Tring she was also a Governor at St Mary’s Shaftesbury until March 2016, and Chairman of Bursary Trustees at Godolphin and Latymer School, and Trustee of the Royal National Children’s Foundation. She served as a Governor in the Maintained Sector for nine years ending in 1999. She became a Governor at Tring Park in 2011 and chairs the Education Committee, and also serves on the F&GP Committee.
Daniel Zammit Daniel spent 20 years in various directorships in local authorities and became a Chief Executive in 2004. He led numerous regeneration projects, delivering new commercial premises and many new homes. One of his projects was recognised as the ‘Best planning conceptual project contributing to London’s future’. In 2005 he coordinated the regeneration of the South East of England’s primary business park following the explosion at the Buncefield Oil Terminal. Daniel has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Warwick Business School. He is an alumnus of Harvard University’s JF Kennedy School of Government and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He became a Governor in 2013 and serves on the Appeal Committee and the Property Steering Group.

Tring Park School was established in 1945 as the second school to be founded by the Arts Educational Schools Trust. The AES Tring Park School Trust was established in 1994 to acquire the freehold property at Tring Park and to operate the Tring Park School independently.
The Trust administers the School through its Trustees who constitute the Board of Governors. The Trust is a registered charity (No. 1040330) and is a company limited by guarantee. There are no shareholders and all assets are held for the benefit of the School.
