Tring Park School is proud to be associated with Centre Stage School of the Arts Singapore.
Centre Stage School of the Arts, Singapore was founded in 1999 by Peter Hodgson and Alison Tompkins to create an environment in which children can use drama to explore both the imaginative and the concrete world. Based on the simple idea – creativity in children is important and the performing arts are of value to all - Centre Stage provide quality ongoing classes and workshops for children and adults – from 6 months to 18 years and beyond. From play-based programmes for babies and toddlers, to drama, musical theatre, dance and singing for children of all ages and adults too!
As the longest running school in Singapore of its kind, Centre Stage brought the “drama club” style of class so readily available in the UK, Australia and the US, to Singapore. The primary aim is to unlock the creative potential in every individual, from those who need encouragement, confidence building and enhanced self-esteem to those who have a passion for performing on the stage. As a testament to its popularity and need, Centre Stage has grown from 1 room in a condo in 1999 – to a shop house in river valley road and now two fully fledged centres in the West (2007) and East (2012). They also provide programmes in international pre-schools, schools and condominiums in Singapore.
All full time teachers trained primarily as performers and completed courses in UK drama schools and universities. Many have worked and continue to work in the theatre. In addition, they are experienced teachers in their own fields and it is this combination of experience, practical application and theoretical expertise that allows students a rich and vivid understanding of the numerous applications of the performing and creative arts.
