Harriet Van Der Vliet
Since leaving Tring Harriet has completed a Master’s in Physics at Royal Holloway, University of London and a PhD in quantum physics at the London Low Temperature Laboratory, Royal Holloway. After this, Harriet became a Quantum Engineer at Oxford Instruments. She has recently become the Product Segment Manager for Quantum Technologies at Oxford Instruments NanoScience, and works with customers in quantum computing.
Tring was a very special place to me and I absolutely loved my time at the school. It was the one school in the country where I could get equal dance, academic and music quality of teaching and training. I always enjoyed academics as much as ballet and although I aimed to dance in a ballet company on leaving the school after 7 years, I was very set on having a back up. This is why I got my 5 grade 8 music exams and 4 A levels. The academic and music departments at Tring were incredibly supportive and knew that people were here to dance but might also need support with academics and an alternative career.
