Audition Information

Audition Schedule

  1. Ballet class – for girls this will include pointe work.
  2. A section of a contemporary class.
  3. Flexibility assessment.
  4. Dance solo – this can be in any style. We are happy to see the candidates own choreography.
  5. Physio screening
  6. Academic assessment. All candidates will sit an academic assessment. The academic part of the audition involves a computerised verbal and non-verbal reasoning test followed by a 10-minute writing test from which we can identify very quickly if a candidate has difficulties with handwriting speed, spelling or grammar.

During the audition day candidates may be interviewed with specific regard to relevant experience, aspirations, career directional choices and personal qualities/skills.

Clothing and Equipment

  • Girls – plain leotard, ballet tights, and usual ballet shoes. Bare feet for the contemporary class. Hair should be neat and tied up away from the face.
  • Boys – unitard with socks and usual ballet shoes.

All candidates are required to attend an entrance audition for the school. These are held in the Autumn and Spring Term each year. Suitability for a place is determined on talent and potential shown at the time of audition.

Final auditions take place in February or March of each year and successful candidates are offered places to start in the following September.
