4th form mathematicians take on the Maths Challenge

On 5th February the most able mathematicians in the 4th year will be competing in the National Maths Challenge. The event is organised by the UK Mathematics Trust and attracts over 600,000 participants from over 4,000 schools and colleges. Students are presented with 25 multiple choice questions that are designed to test their abilities and stimulate their interest in the subject. Gold, silver and bronze certificates are awarded to 40% of participants nationally and the most successful participants will progress on to further rounds both nationally and globally.

Good luck to everyone taking part!

For anyone who thinks that multiple choice questions must be pretty straightforward, here are three examples from last year's Maths Challenge to stick your teeth into..
