My First Week at Tring Park
The beginning of a new school year can be a particularly daunting experience for anybody... "I can't find my classroom!"; "I hope my class like me!"; "What time do lessons start?!" (And that's just the teachers!) It is perhaps the students arriving into the 1st Form, however, who have the biggest job ahead of them. Finding classrooms, writing in prep and handing in their exercise books are all tasks that these new pupils have been faced with, as well as the most important (and often the most unnerving) task of all...making friends!
We caught up with three pupils: Georgiana Wainwright-Jones, Josh Sullivan and Soraya Walding, to see how they have been getting on.
Firstly, how was your first week at Tring Park?
G: It was great! I felt so at home in the pink fluffy boarding house and by the end of the week the other girls already felt like family. The days were so full, I hardly had time to feel homesick! I feel so lucky to be able to do all the things I love in the same place!
J: I think everything is great! I wish there was less prep, though! (sorry Josh!)
S: My first week at Tring Park was amazing! It was the most fantastic week I've ever had; full of exciting, nervous and thrilling adventures!
What were your academic lessons like on your first week?
G: I enjoyed all the subjects, but English was my favourite, followed by Science.
J: Great! I liked Maths the most.
S: The lessons were so fun and interesting! I enjoyed Art the most.
What are you most looking forward to learning about in your lessons?
G: I'm most looking forward to learning about the Normans in History and going to visit a Norman castle.
J: Everything! But mostly doing experiments in Science.
S: I'm most looking forward to learning new things.
What has been the most challenging part of your first week at Tring Park?
G: The greatest challenge has been keeping my belongings tidy in my dorm, being organised and finding my way to lessons on time.
J: Knowing where to go because I'm new.
S: My most challenging part was finding all the rooms and not being late!
So despite getting a little lost and having to adjust to the reality of prep, Georgiana, Soraya and Josh all seem to have really enjoyed their first week at Tring Park. Thank you to all three students for taking the time to let us know how everything went. Best of luck for the rest of your time at school!
