2nd Form Christmas Fair Fundraising
Many thanks to all the Second Form who contributed to the craft stall at the recent Christmas Fair. An array of goods, both festive and simply decorative, were made in aid of Sightsavers. As a year group they nominated a range of good causes; the group decided upon Sightsavers, a charity that fights avoidable blindness and promotes equal opportunities for visually impaired people. The year group were shocked to learn that there are 39 million blind people in the world, but 80 per cent of blindness can be cured or prevented.
At the time of writing over £50 was raised, with more on the way. This money may support projects in the future like the October campaign in Mozambique, which reached over 20 communities in just 15 days; an incredible 185 cataract surgeries were carried out by the team. Through Sightsavers' work, lives are changed and futures altered for generations who will not be kept at home, away from education or looking after family members.
Many thanks again to all involved, especially the great sales team on the day - Sir Alan Sugar would be proud of these developing entrepreneurs!
