4th Form thoughtfulness

The 4th Form GCSE RS group have been learning more about the nature of faith in action, including the work of the church in the wider community.

They have decided to forgo their usual festive treat from their teacher and have asked her to donate the sum to charity. Hearing them want to put their learning into action is profoundly moving.  With Christmas much on their minds, it seemed appropriate to send this to a charity that supports the homeless. Thus they are supporting St Mungo’s. Their  outreach teams go out each night to meet people who are homeless and to help them off the streets. With 17 outreach teams we are one of the largest providers of outreach services in this country.

St Mungo’s pioneered many of the innovative services that are now part of homelessness sector practice and projects, including the first specialist project solely for people sleeping rough with a mental illness; the first specialist project solely for people sleeping rough with a history of alcohol misuse; the only specialist project solely for older people with a long history of rough sleeping and, more recently, the first Recovery College in the homelessness sector.
