The Ballad of Maria Marten

The Acting Course students are excited for the return of the Contemporary Theatre Festival – running from the 27 February – 8 March 2024.

Summer, 1827. In a red barn, a 25-year-old-woman awaits her lover. A year later her body is found under the floor of the barn, barely identifiable.

Beth Flintoff retells this tragic tale of Maria Marten, but focuses on life rather than death, in the hope to restore dignity to Maria, who became the grim fascination of public gossip.

Written by Beth Flintoff. Directed by Tim Crowther. This performance includes haze smoke. Age 12+. By kind permission of Nick Hern Books.

Booking is now open!

Please note that seating for this performance is unreserved.
