The Contemporary Theatre Festival 2026 presents

RULES FOR LIVING written by Sam Hopcroft
A family Christmas unravels under the pressure of unspoken rules and repressed emotions. As tensions rise and violence erupts, the characters cling to their self-imposed “rules” in a desperate attempt to stay in control, revealing how fragile—and absurd—those rules really are. This sharp, darkly comic play premiered at the National Theatre in 2015. By kind permission of Nick Hern Books Ltd.
