The Suppliants - Drama Show

The Suppliants

by Aeschylus

Director: Dominic Yeates

Assistant Directors: Heather Loomes and Sara West

Tuesday 13th - Friday 16th November at 7.30pm

If the scholars' reading of the papyrus is correct The Suppliants was first performed in 463BCE.  The play is one of the most strangely beautiful of all Greek tragedies, rich and suggestive out of all proportion to its brevity.  It is about helplessness, need and what it means to stand up for those who are defenceless.

'If I help you, I pay the price; If I refuse, I pay the price.  What should I do?  Intervene?  Leave it to fate?  Either way, I am afraid.'

Venue: A site specific performance
