Tales from the Home Front

Our wonderful Tring Park family have been sending messages of support to our teachers who have been working hard all week to provide a stimulating educational experience for pupils.

In the Lower School PSHE one of the key themes has been resilience.  As an illustration of this has been a remarkable series on the BBC. In Liberia, Jim and Jenny Desmond have become surrogate parents to 21 orphan chimps. They have been rescued from the illegal pet trade;  their mothers were shot to get the babies and then became bush-meat. Via "virtual Tring Park School) ie email , the pupils have participated in a lesson regarding how the Desmonds have shown resilience in their work.

World Book Day and International Women's Day

As we approach both: World Book Day and International Women's Day, we are celebrating the range of women's writing that we have explored in school, often in English, as well as Theatre Studies. We encourage the importance of private reading by having one lesson a week devoted to this, as a means of enriching and expanding the world of our young people.

Children's Mental Health Week

Our Head of Lower School is being kept busy writing these reward postcards. Over 20 Bronze Awards have gone out last week and even more are being written this week.

75th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz

This week we commemorated the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and the day that we come together to remember the millions of people murdered during the Holocaust, under Nazi Persecution and in the genocides which followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

Cambridge Success!

A big congratulations to Sorcha Kahn and Poppy Wager Leigh for gaining offers to Cambridge University pictured with History teachers Anne Campkin and Robert Brown and Head of Sixth Form, Edward Hawkins.

Elevate Education exam preparation

Elevate Education came into school this week to give talks to our Sixth Form students to help them to prepare for their upcoming AS and A level exams. The Lower Sixth had a talk entitled "Ace your exams", where our speaker Ollie discussed the strategies that successful students use to gain the top marks in A level exams. As part of this students have created an action plan for themselves.

Certificate Ceremony

Our first event of 2020 was the Certificate Ceremony for our GCSE and graduate A Level students who returned with their parents to celebrate their success.

The afternoon also included a speech by Tring Park alumni William Quinn (pictured left) who is currently studying for a PhD in Physics having taken the decision to go down an academic rather than a performing arts route.  It was a lovely opportunity to also welcome back former teachers including former Director of Academic Studies, Helen Wells.
