A unique private prep school education with an emphasis on performing arts and creativity.

Private prep school in Hertfordshire

Tring Park’s private prep school gives children a zest for life and aspirations to achieve in their chosen field. They are able to work academically and vocationally during the school day which ensures they develop a wide range of skills and the self-confidence that is required to prepare them for secondary school.

Pupils here are from a variety of different backgrounds, all with a passion for the performing arts. The pupils are treated as individuals and are all given equal opportunities to achieve and become the best that they can be.

Whilst at the prep school, your child will benefit hugely from being part of Tring Park’s large and internationally renowned performing arts school. These children have a varied and fulfilling day, participating in all areas of school life. They are supported not only by the prep teachers but by our dedicated team of pastoral staff who will ensure that your child feels secure and well cared for.

Prep School Curriculum

Children are taught in two mixed-age classes, and follow an integrated timetable moving between performing arts and academic lessons. Approximately one third of the pupils’ time is spent in vocational lessons and the remainder on more traditional academic subjects, sports and holistic activities such as mindfulness.

Alongside the more traditional curriculum, as a performing arts primary school, Tring Park Prep offers children a broad training in the performing arts,  giving pupils a foundation on which to build if they wish to progress through the School. The pupils study classical ballet, modern and tap dance as well as acting, music and choir. Emphasis is on establishing a good basic technique in all areas, whilst encouraging a passion for the performing arts.

The children are able to display their talents at many events throughout the year including open classes, the Christmas Carol Service and in their own, very popular, ‘Prep Show’ during the course of the year.

Testimonials

‘My daughter is like a different child since she started at Tring, she loves going to school and everything that the school day entails. She had minimal dance experience prior to joining and never had a single ballet lesson but has loved developing her dancing alongside her talent of singing. She is incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to pursue her love of music and performing whilst ensuring she reaches her full potential academically.’

Catherine

‘Tring from day one has been the most amazing place for my daughters. The prep department is a nurturing classroom and Mrs Deer is the most wonderful and patient teacher you will ever come across! The school as a whole provides an environment to grow in confidence and helps bring out full potential. All the classes, academic and vocational, develop skills that will help not only in the performing arts/dance world but in everyday life.

The shows that the prep department put on at the end of each year are a wonderful and magical experience. The children absolutely love it and have so much fun from rehearsals to back stage to performing.’

Beccy

‘Our daughter absolutely loves the ethos of the school with her interests in performing arts and we have also been thoroughly impressed with the academic side of the school while allowing children to work at their own pace, but also challenging them to strive to achieve. The friendship groups she has made in a short time are excellent and both the teaching and performing staff are second to none!’

Benjamin

‘My daughter had been desperate to attend a performing arts school, so we looked at a couple and Tring Park really stood out for us. It was a big decision for us as family as we were relocating our lives, so we had to be 100% sure it was the right school. From the moment we stepped foot in the Prep classroom and met Mrs Deer we just knew this was the school for her. When they say it’s more of a family than a school – it really is!! She has been so happy at the school; she loves all the vocational lessons and is thriving with her academics too.’

Sarah

‘My daughter is so much more confident in her academic learning since joining the Prep department. She genuinely loves going to school everyday!

My older daughter is in 2nd form and adores Tring Park. She is loving both the academic and vocational side of her education. For me as parent I feel very lucky that both of my girls get to go to a school where they can not only get a great academic education but also do the singing, dancing and acting they love so much every day!

The shows at Tring are phenomenal and it’s all down to the dedication of both the staff and the children. I really look forward to every production.’

Gemma

‘I can honestly say that it is the best decision we have made as a family as my daughter has grown so much in confidence and independence in this short time. I genuinely feel like she has blossomed, grown as an individual and absolutely loves going to school every day where she is surrounded by similar, open minded, creatives. The school has created an environment where the children are encouraged to be themselves and to work hard to achieve their dreams!’
