Performance Foundation (Juniors) Course

The focus of this vocational course is to nurture and develop a broad performing arts skill set based on solid technique in acting, singing, music and dance.

The Performance Foundation Course (Juniors) covers pupils aged 11 to 14 years.

Acting classes encompass script work both contemporary and classical, devised work, voice and physical theatre classes. Singing classes incorporate solo and ensemble classes in Musical Theatre and Commercial Music styles. Music classes include Music Theory, Choir, opportunities to explore different styles of music and instrumentation and individual instrument classes (on an extra-curricular basis). Dance classes include Classical Ballet, Modern and Tap dance alongside the occasional stretch/body conditioning class.

Course Summary

Pupils all take part in a musical at the beginning of the summer term, with the opportunity to audition for principal roles. External performance opportunities are also offered on an audition basis.

Pupils have two official assessment points each year in the three main core disciplines of acting, singing and dance where a colour-coded system is applied; this enables pupils to identify vocational areas requiring further development whilst acknowledging personal strengths.

Fees & Funding

The school offers scholarships for the Performance Foundation course. We also offer scholarships for the Musical Theatre, Acting and Commercial Music courses for when they reach sixth form level.
