We are looking to recruit a Classical Ballet Teacher to work within the our vocational department.

Tring Park School for the Performing Arts is one of the UK’s leading vocational and academic schools in glorious countryside just half an hour from London. Working with 360 boarding and day pupils, aged 7 to 19, you will join a school’s dedicated and supportive staff team that offers the advantage of small classes with talented and committed students and strong public examination results.

About the role

The successful candidate must have trained professionally in dance at an elite level, ideally performed professionally, and must have experience of training professional students, ideally at vocational level.

Ballet is taught at a very high level in the school with many graduates having successful careers in world class companies. We are seeking to appoint a ballet teacher to join our large, dynamic faculty of teachers. The role will involve coaching across all levels and courses in the school, teaching pointe and repertoire, preparing students for and supporting them through assessments alongside the choreography for student performances when required.

The contract is part-time (0.4FTE) and fixed-term (initially for one year) on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30am – 6:30pm. We will be shortlisting and interviewing on an ongoing basis and may appoint before the closing date, so we encourage early applications.

Main Duties

  • To teach ballet classes for boys and girls from age 11 – 19 across all levels and courses in the school.
  • To teach pointe, repertoire and coach students as required.
  • To attend staff meetings, in-service training and conferences regularly to keep up to date with current training modalities.
  • To liaise with administrative, academic and pastoral staff as necessary.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Professionally trained in dance at an elite level, and ideally performed professionally.
  • Experience in training professional students, ideally at a vocational level
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of and commitment to child safeguarding in a school setting
