The Summer Dance Course is open to boarders and day pupils with boarding places open to those aged 9 and over. It is the perfect opportunity to experience life at the school, whilst meeting like-minded friends and develop new skills as a dancer.

Evening activities are provided and included a quiz night and a talent contest in the on-site Markova Theatre. There is also and a trip to a London or regional venue to see a show or dance performance. Meals are provided for all pupils. FAQs

How do I book?

All booking is via the website only. Please be aware that pressing the ‘Submit Form’ button on any booking page sends all your details directly to us via email. In order to create a smooth booking process please complete the form and related payment at the same time. Places are not secured until payment has been received.

When does booking close?

Courses will close on the advertised closing date. Each course page states the closing date related to that course. Residential course bookings may close early if all available dormitories become full, so early booking is advised.

When will I receive all the information for the course?

You will receive all information a week before the course takes place. This will come to you via the email address submitted on the online booking form. This will include details of required clothing and footwear, and what is required if boarding, such as bedding and toiletries.

Is food provided on day and weekend courses?

Food is provided. Boarders eat all meals in the school dining hall, unless on the theatre trip whereby packed food will be provided. Day pupils are provided with lunch and afternoon tea and packed food for the theatre trip as above. Day pupils who wish to stay for dinner are permitted to do so if staying for evening activities – notice of intention to stay for evening meals must be given one week before the course commences.

Can I pick who my child shares a dorm with?

Dormitory sharing requests may be made on application, however they are not guaranteed. This is due to legalities surrounding age groups and the configuration of ages and genders on the course. We do endeavour to accommodate as many requests as possible. Participants will be informed of their allocated dormitory on arrival.

What time do I drop my child off?

Boarders are required to arrive at 4pm on the first day of the course, with day pupils arriving the following morning. Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate early arrivals.

Who will look after my child?

All pastoral staff are experienced within caring for young people and are appropriately trained. In addition, medical staff are available in the medical centre during class hours.

What do day pupils get up to?

Day pupils are invited to join evening activities, which may include quiz night and a talent show. Activities are over between 9pm and 9:30pm. Unless advised otherwise, day pupils are included on the theatre trip. This may be an afternoon or evening event.

Do boarders have to take part in the talent show?

The talent show is optional for boarders and day pupils and participants may choose any skill (within reason!) to perform. Costumes are also optional. Those not taking part in the talent show form the audience.

What group will my child be in?

Class groups are allocated via the information on the application form so please ensure that you are as accurate as possible when applying. Great care is taken to place each participant in the correct group for the course. Please endeavour to include relevant experience, grades and exam boards where possible. All groups may be assessed on the first day and may be subject to change at the discretion of the Course Coordinator.

What time will performances end on the final day?
  • The Musical Theatre course presents a performance in the theatre, which is divided into groups. End times are usually between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
  • The Acting course runs a showing of work created throughout the week, with an expected end time of 3.30pm.
  • The Dance courses invite parents to watch classes, with a presentation of certificates, which usually takes place between 3.30pm and 4pm.
